Nuremberg. Cinema. Die Fotografen Bernd und Hilla Becher

Neues Museum Nürnberg | Klarissenplatz | Thursday, 29. July 2010 | 19:00 | Auditorium | free entrance | german OV

Online. My Suitcase is my Oyster

My Suitcase is my Oyster

After “When heroes quake”  the next blitz concerning jewelry. For those who were not there, we have provided  first pictures.

Leaving the studio of the artist, jewelry looks for his place. Often the road is long. In boxes packed, by customs officials fingered, rayed at the airport. Arrival at the place of revelation. The cases have come to rest. Open like clams. The jewelry reveals itself. Now the  jewelry is visible.  And ready to go with you on future visits. As for millennia. On land, sea and air. You show the world your jewelry. And your jewelry, which you show the world. Nice that we tremble no longer  at the customs!

In the exhibition My Suitcase is my Oyster jewelry and objects by the students of the class Manon van Kouswijk the Rietveld Academie Amsterdam and Künzli Class of the Academy of Fine Arts in Munich can be seen.

Display. Design from the Netherlands

Jan Eisenloeffel, De Stijl and Droog – the names imply the sheer breadth of Dutch design and forge a link from early Modernism through to the present-day. Die Neue Sammlung consciously chose a small, concentrated selection on the topic from its Museum collection and is not showing the items in isolation as a special show, but in the context of the permanent exhibition on international design history.

Munich. Neo Rauch

Neo Rauch | Corinna Rösner

We had a very famous and very pleasant visitor in our museum’s library: Neo Rauch. During the preparations for his exhibition in Pinakothek der Moderne – curated by Bernhart Schwenk – Neo Rauch needed a quiet retreat to talk with selected journalists, and to relax. This haven was the library of Die Neue Sammlung. And we had a very inspiring chat about cars and car design and the futuristic Tatra 87 of 1937, which Die Neue Sammlung shows in Pinakothek der Moderne!
