Danish Design: Komplot

Three-dimensional objects formed by plane workpieces – in paper or veneer, metal or plastic – is an outstanding challenge from a creative point of view and a long-standing fascination for Komplot Design – the Danish Design Studio founded by Boris Berlin and Poul Christiansen. Open-minded the duo defies design dogmas and explores the principles of transforming the two-dimensional into objects in space.

A show with 250 exhibits, including IKEA products spanning six decades, design classics by Thonet, Panton, Henningsen and others, 25 art works of international artists and designers about IKEA and the famous Frankfurt kitchen from 1926.

After its original staging at London’s V&A Museum the exhibition titled, Cold War Modern – Design 1945-1970, is due to open at the National Gallery in Vilnius this Saturday, October 3rd. The show itself contains many layers of multi-media work that all represent the material apotheosis of the Cold War era.

The class Prof. Felten / Prof. Girst, the Academy of Fine Arts in Nuremberg, 2 shows July to 30 October 2009 an exhibition in the premises of the Neues Museum Nuremberg under the title “Denk daran wie schön du bist (Remember how beautiful you are).
