Myths 1Automobili Lamborghini

To mark the beginning of its series "Legends", the Neue Sammlung in the Pinakothek der Moderne will be presenting an exhibition devoted exclusively to vehicles from Automobili Lamborghini. The show "Legends - Automobili Lamborghini" will trace the development from the beginnings up to the newest Murciélago roadster, drawing a line from Marcello Gandini's well-known Bertone designs through to Belgian designer Luc Donckerwolke's contemporary version.

We affirm that the splendor of the world has been enriched by a new beauty: the beauty of speed. (Filippo Tommaso Marinetti, Manifesto of Futurism, 1909)

Miura, Espada, Countach, Diablo, Murciélago … the high-performance car models that carry the brand name, established in 1963, by Ferruccio Lamborghini from Sant'Agata Bolognese, are justifiably surrounded by an aura of the legendary as they are rarely to be seen in ordinary street traffic. This makes it all the more exciting to have the opportunity to see them collectively in one place - not in the "Museo Lamborghini", but in Munich's highlight of this year's Design Parcours.

The open space-installation in the display repository of the Neue Sammlung will embrace the radicalism of the Lamborghini prototypes. The significance of vehicles as design objects will build the focal point of the exhibition - automobiles not only as icons, but, above all, as effects of the creative process. Through projections, museum-goers will have the opportunity to follow the progress of design plans; the formation of a clay model will, in fact, be presented "live".
