Positions of Contemporary Silversmithing | The 15th Silver Triennial
July 2 – September 21, 2008

3. Preis | Fausto Maria Franchi, Cup Tolleranza, 2006 | Feinsilber, Email | Foto: Thomas Bach

Flashes of light and reflexes, sparkling, glistening or faintly shimmering – one of the earth’s most precious materials is presenting itself from its finest side, in the form of tableware, a free object or cutlery.
Whether embossed, soldered, mounted or cast, it is the artistic quality of the silver that counts. 147 designers took part in the competition of 15th.Silver Triennial, among them not only longstanding silversmiths of high repute, but also students and young talent from the up-and-coming generation.
The jury has selected some 100 works for the exhibition. They provide insights into the multi-facetted spectrum of contemporary silversmiths’ art, which includes both everyday objects such as teapots, vases or cutlery as well as free sculptural works. Items submitted from 19 different countries and prize-winners from Italy and Korea underline the international standing of this Triennial.
