| Prof. Otto Künzli (born 1948 in Zurich) is head of the jewelry class at the Academy of Fine Arts in Munich, an outstanding protagonist of contemporary jewelry art and, together with Prof. Hermann Jünger, visiting curator of the Danner Rotunda.
Creating jewelry can involve research – something that is not always directly evident from the piece of jewelry itself. Signs, symbols, figures, colors and ornaments conceal memories, certainties, values and terms, and ideologies, all of which are part of our cultural wealth. Otto Künzli addresses precisely these topics. Familiar things are questioned, explored, transformed and re-defined in terms of statement.
