| In 1965, Bruno Martinazzi, the Italian goldsmith and sculptor, who was born in Turin in 1923, received the Bavarian State Prize. He is again showcasing his important oeuvre in Munich in 2005 at the invitation of the Neue Sammlung – in homage as it were to the event 40 years ago.
Martinazzi enjoys an outstanding position in international 20th century art. His work – which thrives on a humanist outlook – blends sculptural qualities with the precious materials used in jewelry art. In Martinazzi’s work "gold and stone" enter into a complex dialogue – materials that are both timeless and of symbolic import, that contrast and enhance each other. The Neue Sammlung is exhibiting jewelry works by Bruno Martinazzi in the Danner Rotunda in the Pinakothek der Molderne. The Italian General Consul, il Min. Plen. Francesco Scarlata will make an opening address.
