Peter Skubic (born 1935 in Gornji-Milanovac, Yugoslavia, resident in Gamischdorf and Vienna) has a reputation for being a rebel among goldsmiths. Having trained between 1954-58 at the Vienna Academy of Applied Art under Prof. Eugen Mayer he set about discovering new approaches to jewelry, which he subsequently presented and constantly championed in numerous exhibitions, films (he will be showing two short films on July 2), and workshops, including some as Professor of Jewelry Design at the University of Applied Sciences in Cologne – a pensive, recalcitrant artist, who sees making jewelry as an experiment, breaking boundaries asunder in an act of creative liberation. Works by Peter Skubic are showcased in the Danner Rotunda.
