Hubertus Hamm – Pure Photography
September 23, 2003 – March 21, 2004

"Commercial photography" is how Hubertus Hamm (who was born in 1950 in Werdohl in Westphalia) refers to his photographs for international magazines such as Vogue, Harper's Bazaar, GQ, Cosmopolitan, the German newspaper supplement SZ Magazin and news weekly Der Spiegel, as well as for global advertising campaigns – from Apollinaris and DaimlerChrysler, Thyssen Krupp and Montblanc, Siemens and Deutsche Bank, Coca-Cola, Adidas and Toshiba…

Much in demand as a photographer, he is a master of all facets of his trade and produces images which, transcending conventional product photography, narrate the gentle poetry of the subject matter in startlingly clear stills: pure photography.

These are in contrast to provocative settings that by virtue of their, at times, garishly bright range of colors are beguiling and, somewhere between reality and fiction, illustrate the dream of the artificially cool worlds of consumerism.
Hubertus Hamm, who trained at the Bayerische Staatslehranstalt für Fotografie (Bavarian State Academy of Photography) in Munich is a member of the Art Directors Club Deutschland, the Bund Freischaffender Fotodesigner (Association of Independent Photo Designers), and the Deutsche Gesellschaft der Photographie (German Photographic Society). He has received numerous awards for his works. In presenting his works the Neue Sammlung is continuing its series of studio exhibitions of professional object photography in the Neues Museum in Nuremberg.
