Robotics<\/strong>

Robotics means robot technology.
Robots<\/strong> are machines
that can do tasks on their own<\/strong>.
The word robot comes from
the old Czech language and means:
someone has to do hard work.
The exhibition shows robots and
how they changed.

The first robots were built over 100 years ago<\/strong>.
Back then, people started to think about
what machines can do for us in the future<\/strong> and
how that changes our lives<\/strong>.
Today, robots are part of our daily lives.
Experts say that robots will become
even more important in the future.
And they say:
the age of robots begins now.

In the exhibition there are robots
from 1960 to robots from today<\/strong>.
The exhibition shows:
\u2022 How people imagine robots.
\u2022 What robots look like.
\u2022 What robots can do.
\u2022 The ideas and dreams
that are connected to robots.
\u2022 What different tasks robots are made for.

There are very different<\/strong> types of robots.
It depends on what they are used for and
what they should do.

Toy robots <\/strong>look very powerful.
They can usually do things
that humans cannot do.

Around the year 2000, home robots<\/strong>\u2028
often looked like animals<\/strong>.
It should make them feel familiar
like pets or farm animals.
This is no longer necessary today.
For a few years now,
robots look more and more like humans<\/strong>.
These robots are called humanoids.
They can speak and help around the house.
They can also take care of someone.

The exhibition shows important robots from
the museum’s collection.
Some robots belong to \u2028the Technical University of Munich.
These robots are as tall as humans and
look like humans.

The exhibition shows how people use robots<\/strong>:
\u2022 at home
\u2022 in factories
\u2022 in rescue operations
\u2022 for entertainment or information
\u2022 in care
\u2022 in research
\u2022 in education

The museum created the exhibition
with the help of Professor Gordon Cheng<\/strong> and
the Technical University of Munich<\/strong>.
The OHA Office <\/strong>in Munich designed the exhibition.
The exhibition is designed in the same way as
a robot is made in a factory.

The robotics exhibition is part of the new tour<\/strong> at:
Die Neue Sammlung \u2013 The Design Museum.
In 2025, the museum is 100 years old<\/strong>. <\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/section>\n\n
