Pinakothek der Moderne / Nightfrog

In this episode of ONE ON ONE, Nigerian artist and ceramicist Ngozi-Omeje Ezema (*1979) talks about her work “Boundless Vases“, which is exhibited at the Pinakothek der Moderne from 4 December 2024 to 11 May 2025. Using transparent nylon string, hundreds of ceramic fragments are strung together at specific heights and positions to simulate vases of different shapes and sizes. Ngozi-Omeje Ezema, who was trained at the University of Nigeria in Nsukka and where she is teaching today, represents a new generation of African artists who are transporting an ancient traditional art form into the present.

A contribution by Deutsche Welle in the Arts Unveiled series is also dedicated to the exhibition.
