About the Exhibition

Outstanding examples of pioneering work in the field of bentwood and tubular steel furniture.

Thonet’s bicentenary provides a welcome occasion to present some outstanding examples of the company’s achievements in the field of bentwood and tubular steel furniture. By developing and exploiting new technologies, Thonet realized a pioneering principle: form as the result of industrial production methods. This was combined with a farsighted business model and sales policy that helped the company achieve worldwide success, creating the basis for its current position within modern furniture design.
