There are different gripper attachments available for the AirArm. Each gripper has a different application, but the functional principle remains the same. The so-called Point Gripper is inspired by the movement principle of a bird’s beak and is able to perform very fast, precise gripping movements. The Line Gripper is likewise inspired by nature. The similarity of the movement to that of the human hand enables the gripper to grasp objects according to their shape. The Spatial Gripper, meanwhile, is reminiscent of the gripping movement of the thumb, index and middle finger and is thus able to grasp objects in two different ways. In parallel mode, it grips the object in a similar way to the Line Gripper, but without enclosing it completely, while in radial mode force is exerted on the object from three directions. These different pneumatically-driven attachments significantly expand the potential applications of the AirArm.
