Plopp is a stool with 3 legs. The designer and architect Oskar Zieta from Poland designed it.

The stool is made with FIDU technology. FIDU is short for Freie Innendruck-Umformung. This is German and means Free Inner Pressure Forming. It is pronounced Feedoo. Oskar Zieta developed this technology together with his colleague Philipp Dohmen: You put a thin steel plate on top of another one. Then you connect the rims of the steel plates using great heat.

Eventually, you inflate the steel plates like a balloon with high air pressure. This way, the stool’s seat and legs are not flat anymore. They look like they are filled with something.

The stool looks very light and soft, but this is not the case. The steel plates weigh about 3 kilograms. And they stay solid when you sit on them.
