This robot was a promotional gift from the Belgian company Sidal, which specialized in processing aluminum and the sale of semi-finished aluminum products. It shows the company’s various cutting and milling methods as well as the different molds that the company produced during this period. For example, the elongated indentations or grooves attest to the fact that a profile cutter was used, while the satin surface of the promotional gift was roughened using a grinding machine. The figure is deliberately kept plain to emphasize precisely these features of the simplified form. Its shape, consisting of individual geometric parts, is reminiscent of early robot figures from the 1940s, but it was actually made some time after 1989.
