The Zerack toy robot from the planet Zero is part of the Zeroids toy series and is one of four battery-powered robot models that came out in the 1960s. They were advertised as “efficient and powerful automatons” that would serve their masters “at work and play.” Unlike most toys back then, this model stands on a platform and not on two legs, and in this respect it is similar to the majority of actual humanoid robots of recent years.
In addition to Zerack, the Zeroid series included three other characters: Zobor, Zintar, and Zogg. Each of the Zeroids had special abilities: Zerack, the blue destroyer, had hooks for hands, which were magnetic and could even be thrown, according to the packaging. The latter was itself also part of the experience: Turning on the figure while it was still in its box prompted it to push away the plastic cover and use it as a ramp to glide out of the box.
