During the 1960s, the themes with which robots were associated started to change as interest in space travel grew and the Space Age gathered pace. An increasing number of the robots and toys designed and sold around this time centered on the theme of space exploration.
The Apollo Lunar Module combines two movements. With the help of a screw, the spaceship can be wound up and moves forward. At the same time, the plastic part of the space station rotates.
What is notable about this toy figure is the combination of a plastic top with a metal moving frame. The use of plastic in this model heralds the 1970s, which saw ever greater use of synthetics in place of metal.
