REFLEXION
Light, mirrors, transparency

Die Neue Sammlung – The Design Museum
is 100 years old.
To celebrate, there is an exhibition at
the Pinakothek der Moderne.
It is called REFLEXION.

Reflexion is German for reflection.
The title has different meanings:
– Looking back on something in the past.
– Artists think about something through their art.
– Artworks play with light.

The 4 museums in the Pinakothek der Moderne
work together on an exhibition for the second time.
This exhibition also shows paintings, sculptures,
architecture, drawings, posters and design objects.
The artworks are from around the last 100 years.
They are organized into 3 topics:
light, mirrors, and transparency.

The exhibition rooms always have 2 parts:
one part is white, the other part is black.
The colors represent:
– light and shadow
– day and night
– visibility and invisibility.

The exhibition is in the rooms on the ground floor and
on the second floor.

Some artworks are also part of the exhibition,
but they are other areas of the building.
For example:
– a glass artwork at the museum’s entrance
– a special window at the top of the large East staircase.
