The German designer Marcel Breuer
is known for his metal furniture.
He used steel tubes to make furniture.
But he also made furniture out of wood.

This cupboard belonged to Ludwig and Gertrud Grote.
Ludwig Grote was the state curator of the state of Anhalt.
A state conservator looks after
old monuments and old buildings, for example.
Today, the state of Anhalt is
part of the federal state of Saxony-Anhalt.

In 1925, Ludwig Grote moved the Bauhaus
from the city of Weimar to the city of Dessau.
Bauhaus was a very important art school.
In 1927, Marcel Breuer made the furniture
for Ludwig and Gertrud Grote's apartment.
