The Parrot Quadcopter and the Airblock drones were developed in 2010 and 2016 respectively for hobby and leisure use. Thanks to simple controls and a built-in camera for aerial photos and video recordings, they aroused particular interest among newcomers to the computer-controlled flying experience. The main similarities between the two models are their propulsion by motors and propellers as well as mobile control via smartphone or tablet.

Their designs and concepts, however, were aimed at different target groups. The French Quadcopter has a fixed shape. Its range is approx. 100 meters and it has a flight duration of between 12 and 15 minutes, making it a solid choice for hobby filming. The Chinese Airblock, meanwhile, is a modular drone for learning and experimental purposes. It consists of individual elements that allow customized configurations, but its range and flight duration are significantly shorter than those of the Parrot.
