This colorful pendant lamp is made of various plastic bottles. Take a closer look, and in some cases you can still see the lettering on them. “Heath Nash makes cool things,” it says on the website of the South African designer. His objects are especially cool for the environment, because he uses them to draw attention to its pollution and destruction. In the Bottleformball light, Heath Nash addresses the vast amount of plastic waste produced by mankind – over 200 million tons every year. To highlight this problem, and also give new value to plastic waste, Nash employs what is known as upcycling. In this process, waste products or other seemingly useless materials are turned into new, high-quality objects – such as the Bottleformball light.
