PIN. Freunde der Pinakothek der Moderne e.V.
The history of PIN. tells of magnificent works of art, risk-taking, private commitment and a passion for the present. The aim was and is to discover contemporary art in a timely manner and make it accessible to a wide audience. Founded in 1965 under the name ‘Galerie Verein’, PIN. now supports two of Europe’s most important art institutions in realising ambitious exhibitions, educational projects and collection acquisitions: the Pinakothek der Moderne, which brings together four museums under one roof, enabling a unique and visionary interplay of architecture, design, graphic art and modern art that remains unparalleled to this day, and the Museum Brandhorst with its groundbreaking collections from the 20th and 21st centuries.
The focus is on helping these closely linked institutions to achieve the greatest possible visibility and vitality and to place their collections in ever new contexts.
The association offers its nearly 1,000 members an extensive programme of around 70 events per year, consisting of guided tours, previews, studio visits, artist talks, lectures and trips. The PIN. Young Circle also organises its own programme for young art lovers under the age of 40. In addition, PIN. hosts the PIN. Party with a charity auction, which takes place every year in November in aid of the Pinakothek der Moderne and the Museum Brandhorst.
