100 Years – 100 Objects
About the Exhibition
To mark its 100th anniversary, Die Neue Sammlung is presenting an exhibition of 100 objects. These 100 objects reflect the richness and diversity of Die Neue Sammlung. In addition to numerous iconic works, this selection features many unknown treasures that have never before been seen at the Pinakothek der Moderne.
This unusual presentation does not follow a traditional chronology, but rather focuses on the time in which the objects came into the museum. Sorting them by year of acquisition thus allows a new perspective on the museum’s collection history. When was something collected? Do the acquisitions follow new findings or fashions? How have the collection areas developed over the years? The presentation reflects trends, findings, and influences in order to question the collection anew and make it come alive.
Note for people with limited mobility:
Unfortunately, this exhibition space presents us with particular architectural challenges in terms of providing barrier-free access! We are very sorry that people in wheelchairs in particular can only view the objects of the current century. We are currently working on handrails for the stairs.
Further down on this page you will find an insight as well as information on some of the exhibition objects (please click on each one).
